FURTHER READING

Our ancient ancestors used the power of symbols and the medium of art to communicate; the images and words they left behind stand the test of time as the footprints of the past reach future generations and the imagination is fired-up nine millennia later, by the mysterious markings our ancestors gifted our culture.

Inspired by cave art, also known as “parietal art” the imagination expresses itself in a raw exploration of symbology and figure. Meaning remains a mystery; known only by the one who imagines it... the one who makes a mark - makes it to better understand themselves, their time or the environment, to teach, to explore, to tell stories, to experience and with the impulse to create, they share with their fellow human and leave behind their thinking and expression - If we are curious enough - we might seek to understand, to decipher and learn from it.

Made using coloured pencil. The one making the marks is entranced as sharp lines form structure and are scribbled-in with child-like concentration; like a candle in the dark - from thin air comes unbridled exploration as bizarre abstract gestures, hybrids, spirits, man, metamorphose, mushrooms, stars, snakes, animals, aliens, skulls, worms, random markings and words appear. Like jazz, energy sits and scatters - it moves in all directions—all at once and fills the empty space with colour, vibration, dream, vision, story.

“Language has made us more than a group of pack-hunting monkeys. It’s made us a group of pack- hunting monkeys with a dream.” — Terence McKenna
