THE ARTWORK
Painted in a naive expressive manner, two figures appear from a moonlit landscape. The scene is peppered with various cacti, some have midnight blooms whilst another is decorated with human skulls. A weathered drunken cowboy takes a draw on a cigarette, he looks startled as he spills his grog. He is cloaked in a black poncho covered with scrawled text, his snakes skin boots protrude from his cloak and a blue rattlesnake wraps around them.
On the left is a more mysterious character who confronts the cowboy... Her eyes pop out on stalks, they see beyond this realm and her head is aflame with dreaming. A human bone hovers above her left hand. Her skin is black and she wears a skirt covered in mystical symbols. Is this strange creature real... is she a hungry ghost come to weigh he’s soul and give the man his due... or perhaps she’s a fever dream, induced by lashings of moonshine, peyote and the mystery of the landscape.
