THE ARTWORK
He was an outside child. He grew into an outlaw, searching the desert for the hidden man blues. Life drifted in slow motion, but it was motion all the same. Always running through deserts, back roads, and dead-end towns, chasing shadows. Nothing left to lose.
Somewhere on the road, maybe from the poison, maybe from the succubus, he snapped. Was he going mad? At first, it came in bursts until it became the only thing he knew.
Mad, psycho, or just misunderstood, he still had a hunger to wander and carried with him a certain charm. That's how he wound up at the Scorpion's Nest and in the arms of Cherry.
Cherry was a hooker. Her tongue was as sharp as his whip. Her lips clung like a goddamn religion to a burning fag. Her ash became his ocean. Her laugh cut deep, her poison deeper, and she was the last thing he had.
As the sun melted into night and the melting pot reached its crescendo, it was just after midnight when he let out his final 'yahoo'. His face turned blue and, quick as a flash, he was gone.
